Posted: 09 Sep 2009 11:19 PM PDT Alien Ant Farm - truANT "Speeding faster towards disaster." When most angst-filled frontmen spit out a line like that it just sounds ridiculously clichéd. But when Alien Ant Farm frontman Dryden Mitchell conjures it up for "1000 Days," the opening track of his band's second major label album, it's easy to believe he has an intimate connection with every syllable. Just as the Los Angeles quartet found itself in the right place at the right time with its enormously successful 2001 debut, ANThology, a tour bus accident nearly took the singer's life. The group attempts to put the tragedy behind it on truANT, but this is undeniably a more muscular, heavy-hearted affair than its predecessor, particularly in searing songs like "Sarah Wynn" and "These Days." Better still, the disc was produced by Stone Temple Pilots' Dean and Robert DeLeo, whose own experience with life's occasional pitfalls no doubt gave the band some much-needed direction. --Aidin Vaziri Your Link To Download Never Meant.mp3 or you better buy the original copy This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
A Static Lullaby - Rattlesnake! (2008) Posted: 09 Sep 2009 11:15 PM PDT A Static Lullaby - Rattlesnake! Their fourth studio album is their heaviest and most vicious. The band has taken a darker path and themed the lyrics around mystery, fear, and horror. Veterans of the Orange County hardcore scene, A Static Lullaby have sold over 160,000 albums since their 2002 debut. Look for them on a full US tour supporting Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster in September and October. RIYL: Senses Fail, As I Lay Dying, Alesana. Your Link To Download

A Day To Remember - Homesick (2009) Posted: 09 Sep 2009 11:10 PM PDT A Day To Remember - Homesick 2009 sophomore release, one of Alternative Press' Most Anticipated Albums of 2009. Two short years since their debut release, A Day To Remember has exploded from a small band with a dedicated fan-base in Florida into a worldwide phenomenon thanks to the insane live shows and Pop-Hardcore they have lovingly made their own. Gaining the respect of their peers as much as their fans, they landed slots on the New Found Glory and Silverstein tours, the Victory Records Tour and the Vans Warped Tour. In 2009, ADTR are taking their insanely catchy melodies and brutal breakdowns with the positive message of friendship and unfaltering self-belief to the masses. With a full US and international tour lined up in support of Homesick, A Day To Remember truly are ready to take over the world one mosh pit at a time. Your Link To Download 01 01. LeAnn Rimes - Sittin' On Top Of The World Posted: 09 Sep 2009 08:20 PM PDT LeAnn Rimes - Sittin' On Top Of The World "El stinko," writes one Amazon.com customer, but to be fair to Rimes, her second album since the surprising debut Blue is more misguided than merely bad. She bites off more than she can chew, and producer Wilbur Rimes (LeAnn's father) tries to force-feed warmed-over Adult Contemporary arrangements and overheated pop fare ("Purple Rain" may be the silliest cover in "country" history), the kind neither Rimes nor the listener can easily swallow. Sittin' on Top of the World may be an advance from the truculent You Light Up My Life, but Rimes's talents are being squelched by the superstar machine. Still, with the right production and right songs, Rimes may yet make a consistently strong country album. --Roy Kasten Your Link To Download

Posted: 09 Sep 2009 08:17 PM PDT No Doubt - Rock Steady As much as No Doubt have protested that they are a singular unit and not "Gwen and her guys," Gwen Stefani's much-touted duets with rapper Eve and techno mogul Moby did nothing to juice the boys' spotlight, which had been steadily dimming since the release of 2000's Return of Saturn. But all that banter is silenced with Rock Steady, on which the music is definitely the star, unfettered by Gwen's cutesy-clouded feminism or dumped-by-the-boyfriend woes. Having mostly departed from their ska home base, No Doubt's well-navigated exploration of hip-hop beats, reggae, and the reunion of '80s keyboards and guitars finds the group picking up the pop-rock baton that Garbage dropped with an unsettling thud. Rock Steady's delegate of stalwart producers perfectly decorate the disc with their respective expertise; Ric Ocasek (new wave), Prince (R&B), Nellee Hooper (trip-hop), Sly & Robbie (dub), and William Orbit (trance) offer some staying power to music that's always been on the edge of disposable. Despite their disparate styles, the songs complement each other like stars and stripes. This is No Doubt's best album to date, and as they continue to expand their influences, the party only gets bigger. --Beth Massa Your Link To Download

Rage Against The Machine - Renegades Posted: 09 Sep 2009 08:10 PM PDT Rage Against The Machine - Renegades If Renegades proves to be the last Rage Against the Machine album to feature singer Zack de la Rocha, who quit the band after nine years, it's a cool way to go out. Produced by Rick Rubin, Renegades is a salute to the artists who made Rage what they are--or were. While it's easy to hear Rage's rap roots in songs from Afrika Bambaataa, EPMD, and Volume 10, it's more interesting to see their take on rock in its classic and punk forms. Rage capture the raw spirit, if not the quite the intensity, inherent in the MC5 classic "Kick Out the Jams." A superior second live take appears at the CD's end, followed by a concert version of Cypress Hill's "How I Could Just Kill a Man," with help from B-Real and Sen Dog. Devo's "Beautiful World" is rendered quietly unrecognizable, while Minor Threat's "In My Eyes" is given a wonderfully melodic, ultra-aggro treatment. The Rolling Stones' "Street Fighting Man" takes on a techno vibe that's unsettling and Bob Dylan's "Maggie's Farm" is also effectively modernized. Ultimately, Renegades is a must-have for its song selection, musical execution, and the unhappy fact that it's likely the ultimate offering from one of rock's most musically and politically relevant lineups. --Katherine Turman Your Link To Download

Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift [Deluxe] Posted: 09 Sep 2009 08:04 PM PDT Three years ago, a 13-year old Taylor Swift set out to be a star and moved from Reading, Pennsylvania, to Nashville. By 14, she had a publishing deal, and by 15, a recording contract. In these days of Bianca Ryan (and before her, Tanya Tucker and LeAnn Rimes), many are called, but few are chosen. Swift, it appears, is one of the chosen ones. Her vocal talent is modest, though sweetly affecting, her style seemingly influenced by the radio hits of early Sheryl Crow and Michelle Branch, and perhaps Cyndi Thomson. And at times, her youthfulness shows--she encoded messages in the lyrics of her CD booklet, starting with the name of the boy who cheated on her from "Should've Said No" (the album's strongest offering). But in writing or co-writing all 11 songs on this debut, Swift demonstrates remarkable maturity, particularly in crafting a hooky, radio-ready chorus. Though she sounds ridiculous looking back from the perspective of an 87-year old woman on "Mary's Song," to her credit she mostly writes about what she knows--unrequited high-school crushes ("Teardrops on My Guitar"), teenage angst ("Tied Together with a Smile"), and complete immersion in starry-eyed romance (her breakout hit "Tim McGraw"). Swift has such wistful charm and tunefulness that only a curmudgeon could dismiss her, and in fact, more than 60,000 fans lined up to grab this CD the first month of release. No wonder Rascal Flatts and George Strait added her to their tours. Look out, Carrie Underwood--there's a new kid in town. --Alanna Nash Your Link To Download
